From employees to entrepreneurs, from fear to possibility: Augustine Chua and Zhou MiBy Shuying KeMay 02, 2016
Welcome to the third in our series of personal success stories, where community members share their journeys of personal growth and life transformation, catalysed by coaching. Read stories of people just like you and me, who have overcome struggles and gained confidence to live the lives they truly want.
Augustine had dreamed of starting his own business ever since he was a student. His first try in business, a T-shirt printing outfit, earned him a decent profit and he was inspired by the possibilities. Upon graduation, Augustine got a job in HR, which paid for his bills while he learned programming on his own to prepare himself to create a tech startup.
Zhou Mi was an assistant brand manager at an MNC when she ran Racing the Planet ultra marathon in Madagascar. She completed a 250km, 7-day race through the desert, over hills, across rivers. Zhou Mi endured heat, sand, mud, blisters, frustration, exhaustion, and pain. She came face to face with herself – and discovered a survivor, a victor. She saw that life was possibility.
Augustine and Zhou Mi were both in ‘safe’ corporate jobs, but they knew they wanted more in life. Life coaching had changed their perspectives and they realised that life was full of possibilities.
Only a year old, 42Race is one of the largest and fastest-growing running platforms. 42Race won the Most Popular Award at the 2015 Travel Hackathon in China, and Mission42, their flagship virtual race, has gone international.
Life is like a marathon – if you have the courage to start, the determination to continue, and the perseverance to finish, you will succeed. 42Race is on a quest to inspire millions to run, believe in themselves, and reach their true potential.
In addition to being entrepreneurs, Augustine and Zhou Mi are life coaches. Inspired by how life coaching had worked for them, they both decided to become coaches themselves to help more people realise their dreams.
